Practical administration
How do you administer CBD oil?
Preferably give the oil with a small, suitable snack that is eaten completely. If that doesn't work, gently give the oil directly into the mouth.
A small snack, a clear routine
Four practical steps for giving the oil.
Check the product
Read the animal group, product strength and label. Use the product intended for your animal.
Measure the quantity
Follow the dosage advice supplied with your order.
Give with a small snack
Choose familiar, species-appropriate food and a portion that your animal will eat completely.
Check intake
Check whether the entire snack has been eaten. Do not pour the oil into a full food bowl.
Do not put the oil in drinking water: it does not mix evenly with water. The further explanation below also describes direct administration.
Preferably together with a small snack
CBD is fat soluble. By combining the measured oil with a small amount of suitable, fat-containing food, the body can better absorb the active substances. Use a portion that the animal will eat completely, so that you know the entire amount has been consumed.
Giving directly into the mouth is possible if the snack is refused. Work quietly and always follow the dosage advice supplied with the order.
Dogs
Mix the oil with a small bite of cold-pressed coconut oil, oily fish, meat or egg. These foods contain fats to which cannabinoids can bind well.
Cats
Use a small amount of familiar and suitable wet food, preferably with some fat. Otherwise, gently give the oil directly into the mouth.
Birds
Drizzle the oil onto a small piece of tasty, species-appropriate food that the bird will eat completely, preferably something with some fat. Otherwise, gently give the oil directly into the mouth.
Rabbits and rodents
Drizzle the oil onto a small piece of tasty, species-appropriate food that is eaten completely, preferably something with some fat. Otherwise, gently give the oil directly into the mouth.
Why nutrition supports absorption
After swallowing, CBD travels through the digestive system to the liver. Part of it is broken off during this first pass. Fats, including triglycerides, act as a carrier for cannabinoids and can support bioavailability. That is why we recommend a small fat-containing snack instead of a full meal.
Recording or entourage effect? The nutritional effect is about the bioavailability of CBD. The entourage effect is about the possible collaboration between CBD, terpenes and other components in the oil. So they are two different, but both relevant topics.
